Transient tractional retinal detachment in an eye with retinitis pigmentosa
We present a case of retinitis pigmentosa with vitreoretinal traction-associated retinal detachment. The retinal detachment was detected in the nasal periphery. No retinal breaks and no active vascular leakage were observed by fundus scopy and fluorescein angiography, respectively. However, 8 months later, the tractional retinal detachment was spontaneously resolved with posterior vitreous deta...
متن کاملRetinitis pigmentosa and retinal oedema.
Twenty-five patients with retinitis pigmentosa and retinal leakage were investigated. Oedema was present in dominant and X-linked inherited disease and is likely to be present in recessive disease as well. We suggest that this might be a general response seen in many types of tapeto-retinal degeneration to actively degenerating photoreceptors or pigment epithelium.
متن کاملA case of retinal detachment in retinitis pigmentosa.
PURPOSE To report case of retinitis pigmentosa in association with rhegmatogenous retinal detachment. METHODS An eight year old boy complained of a sudden visual loss. The patient had night blindness, bone spicule-like hyperpigmentation, pale optic disc in both eyes, and the retina was totally detached in the right eye. RESULTS He was initially treated with conventional scleral buckling sur...

purpose: to evaluate the underlying causes of rhegmatogenous retinal detachment (rrd) in eyes operated for this reasion. methods: out of 1473 patients who underwent retinal detachment surgery, records of 369 patients were randomly selected and evaluated for the types of retinal breaks, the underlying disorders, and location of breaks. results: fifty-two percents of patients were less than 50 ye...
متن کاملGiant Retinal Tear Retinal Detachment Etiologies, Surgical Outcome and Incidence of Recurrent Retinal Detachment after Silicon Oil Removal
A Giant Retinal Tear (GRT) is defined as a full-thickness retinal break extending circumferentially for 3 clock hours (90°) in the presence of a posteriorly detached vitreous [1]. GRTs are rare; their incidence has not been well established in the literature. The true incidence of GRTs is difficult to assess given their rarity, but one recent study estimates 0.094 per 100,000 of the general pop...
